 As a third-generation islander, construction has been part of my life from the beginning. Growing up in the San Juan Islands, I was exposed to the building industry through my father and developed an early appreciation for the craftsmanship, creativity, and problem-solving that go into every successful project.

After earning degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business from Gonzaga University, I spent nearly nine years with McKinstry, one of the nation's leading design-build construction firms. There, I gained valuable experience managing K-12, higher education, healthcare, municipal, and commercial projects while working alongside elected officials, architects, engineers, utility operators, consultants, and contractors.

My wife Katie and I are proud to call San Juan Island home, where we are raising our two sons, Cameron and Connor. Community involvement has always been important to us. Over the years, we have served on local boards and organizations, including the San Juan Building Association and youth baseball programs. Katie is a graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law and a real estate broker with Compass, bringing additional insight into local properties, development opportunities, and the unique dynamics of the island real estate market.

Together, we have invested in, developed, and manage multiple vacation rental properties in Friday Harbor. Our family's journey returning home to the islands was even featured on HGTV's Island Life, highlighting our passion for building, entrepreneurship, and island living.

I founded San Juan Building Solutions because I enjoy every aspect of the building process—from early planning and design to permitting, project management, and construction. Throughout my career, I have been drawn to projects that require creativity, collaboration, and practical problem-solving. Whether helping deliver a luxury waterfront residence, a commercial development, an aviation facility, a boutique hospitality destination, or a one-of-a-kind specialty structure, I enjoy bringing ideas to life and helping clients successfully navigate the challenges of building.

 San Juan Building Solutions was created to provide a flexible resource for property owners, businesses, architects, and contractors. Every project is different, and every client requires a different level of support. Whether we're assisting with a specific challenge, managing a critical phase of a project, or helping guide a project from concept through completion, our goal is simple: provide practical solutions, clear communication, and the experience needed to achieve successful outcomes. 

I am a seasoned construction professional with over 18 years of progressive experience managing residential construction projects from inception to completion. Based on San Juan Island — where I  have lived and worked for 15 years — I bring a deep understanding of local building conditions, permitting processes, and the unique demands of island construction.

My background spans every phase of the construction process. As a Journeyman Carpenter, I developed comprehensive, hands-on knowledge of the trade from foundations to finish work. My tenure as a Plans Examiner sharpened my command of building codes and permit compliance, giving me the ability to navigate regulatory requirements efficiently and accurately. Most recently, as a Project Manager overseeing custom home construction and high-end remodels, in the “big city” of Austin, Texas. I have demonstrated the leadership, coordination, and client communication skills required to deliver exceptional results on time and within budget.

Throughout my career, I have cultivated strong professional relationships with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and inspectors across the region. I am known for running organized, efficient job sites and for my ability to bridge the gap between technical expertise and clear client communication.

Beyond my professional work, I am an active member of the San Juan Island community — a father of five and a youth soccer coach who understands the importance of building with integrity in the place I call home.
